About Us
Clarity. Wisdom. Balance.
Like the rare gemstone that inspires our name, Ametrine Wealth Strategies was created around the idea of clarity through balance.
Ametrine is a natural fusion of amethyst and citrine — two distinct elements formed together within one crystal. To us, it represents the balance between thought and action, discipline and growth, logic and intuition.
That same idea shapes the way we approach financial planning, because financial decisions rarely stand alone. An investment decision can affect retirement income. A tax decision can affect cash flow. A business decision can affect personal wealth. Liquidity, protection, estate considerations, family responsibilities, and long-term goals can all intersect.
Understand the Whole Picture Before Making the Next Decision.™
Ametrine Wealth Strategies, LLC is an independent wealth management and financial planning firm based in Orange County, California. We work primarily with professionals, business owners, and families approaching or living in retirement who want greater clarity, structure, and confidence around important financial decisions.
Information Is Everywhere. Clarity Is Different.
Information Is Everywhere. Clarity Is Different.
Today, access to investments, financial information, research, technology, and sophisticated tools is more widely available than ever. That is a good thing.
But more information does not necessarily make financial decisions easier.
Most people we meet are not suffering from a lack of information. They may already have investments, retirement accounts, insurance, tax professionals, estate documents, business interests, financial apps, research, and plenty of opinions about what they should do.
The harder questions are more personal: What actually applies to me? What matters now? What can wait? Which choice fits my circumstances? What are the trade-offs? How does one decision affect everything else?
And when several reasonable choices exist, how do you decide which one makes the most sense for you?
That is where we believe thoughtful financial advice still matters.
Information Creates Options. Structure Creates Decisions.™
Understanding Creates Confidence.™
Why Ametrine?
We Look Beyond the Obvious
Our work begins with the person behind the numbers — not simply an account balance, a risk questionnaire, or a product recommendation.
We want to understand what you have built, what you are responsible for, how money moves through your life, what concerns you, what may be changing, what opportunities may exist, and what you ultimately want your financial resources to accomplish.
That means looking at the complete financial picture: assets, liabilities, cash flow, investments, income, taxes, retirement resources, business interests, liquidity, insurance and protection, estate considerations, family responsibilities, time horizon, risk capacity, and long-term priorities.
Sometimes the most important issue is obvious. Sometimes it is sitting somewhere else in the financial picture.
See What Others See. Then Look One Layer Deeper.™
Wealth Management — The Portfolio Has a Job to Do
Most people understand the basic idea of wealth management: build a portfolio, diversify it, select appropriate asset classes, establish an asset allocation, manage risk, and monitor performance.
All of that matters.
But we believe there is a more useful question:
What Does This Portfolio Actually Need to Do for You?
A portfolio does not live in isolation. It has to work within your cash flow, taxes, income needs, retirement plans, liquidity requirements, time horizon, business interests, family responsibilities, and willingness and ability to take risk.
Two people can have the same amount of money and require completely different portfolios. One may need income today. Another may still be accumulating. One may need substantial liquidity. Another may have predictable income from other sources. One may hold significant assets in taxable accounts. Another may have most of their wealth in qualified retirement plans. One may own a highly concentrated business. Another may be preparing to sell one.
Same Markets. Different Lives. Different Strategy.
That is why customization matters.
We consider how appropriate asset classes and asset allocation fit the individual — not simply what is currently popular in the market. We also look at how taxable, tax-deferred, and tax-free assets may work together; how qualified and non-qualified resources should be coordinated; where liquidity is needed; how income may be generated; how tax-loss harvesting may fit when appropriate; and how future distributions may be sequenced.
The objective is not simply to own a collection of good investments. The objective is to create a structure in which the investments have a reason for being there.
We Do Not Begin by Asking Which Investment to Use. We Begin by Asking What the Money Needs to Accomplish.
From Financial Information to a Financial Picture
Financial information is often scattered. A retirement account is in one place. A brokerage account is somewhere else. Insurance is separate. The CPA sees the tax return. The attorney sees the estate documents. The business owner sees the business.
And sometimes no one is looking at everything together.
We use financial-planning and portfolio technology to help organize those pieces into a clearer financial picture. That may include assets and liabilities, cash flow and living expenses, investments, retirement resources, business interests, insurance and protection, liquidity, tax characteristics, risk tolerance and risk capacity, time horizons, retirement-income needs, portfolio allocation, diversification, and different financial scenarios.
Technology helps us organize the facts, model possibilities, and ask better questions.
But technology does not make the decision.
Data Creates the Picture. Judgment Gives It Meaning.™
Business Owners — The Business Is Part of the Picture, Not the Whole Picture
For many business owners, the business becomes the largest asset, the primary source of income, the retirement plan, and sometimes even the legacy plan.
That creates a different set of financial questions.
We look not only at what the business may be worth, but also at what the owner has intentionally created outside of it.
One question often brings the issue into focus:
What Have You Intentionally Built Outside the Business?
We may look at personal liquidity, protection, investment assets, retirement resources, business concentration, continuity, succession, key-person considerations, estate issues, tax exposure, and what happens financially if the owner someday cannot — or simply no longer wants to — run the business.
Business success and personal financial independence are related. They are not necessarily the same thing.
Understanding the difference can change the conversation.
Retirement — An Account Balance Is Not a Retirement Plan
For someone approaching or living in retirement, accumulation eventually becomes only part of the question.
Now the money may have to provide income. It may need to remain accessible. It may need to withstand market volatility. It may need to address inflation, longevity, taxes, healthcare, family responsibilities, and an uncertain time horizon.
So instead of asking only, “How much have I accumulated?” we believe there is another question worth asking:
Is What You Have Built Structured to Support the Life You Want to Live?
That may require looking at how investments, retirement accounts, Social Security, pensions, annuities where appropriate, cash reserves, taxable assets, tax-deferred assets, income needs, and future distributions work together.
Retirement is not simply a date. It is a transition in what your financial resources are being asked to do.
And sometimes circumstances change enough that an existing plan deserves a fresh look — what we refer to as a Retirement Do-Over™.
OUR PHILOSOPHY – HOW WE THINK
Great financial planning begins with listening.
Every strategy should be shaped by your priorities, responsibilities, circumstances, goals, and long-term vision — not by a template or a product shelf.
We believe good financial advice should help answer more than, “What should I buy?”
It should help answer why something makes sense, how it fits with everything else, what the alternatives are, what the trade-offs may be, what could change the decision, and what deserves attention next.
Technology can provide information. Investment platforms can provide access. Artificial intelligence can provide analysis. All of those resources can be valuable.
But information, access, and analysis still have to be interpreted within the circumstances of a real person. That requires judgment, context, and sometimes asking a question that was never on the questionnaire.
That is where we believe advice continues to matter.
WHO WE SERVE – WHO WE’RE BUILT FOR
We work primarily with professionals, business owners, and families approaching or living in retirement.
Our clients may include physicians, attorneys, engineers, educators, healthcare professionals, executives, entrepreneurs, and business owners.
Many have already accomplished quite a bit. They have careers, investments, retirement plans, businesses, real estate, insurance, estate documents, or other financial resources.
What they often want is not another pile of information.
They want a clearer way to understand what they already have, identify what may be missing, determine what deserves attention, and make important decisions with greater confidence.
Some come to us with a specific question. Others simply know that their financial lives have become complicated enough that they want someone to look at the complete picture.
Both are good places to begin.
OUR PROCESS – HOW WE GUIDE YOU
We begin with where you are.
Before deciding where to go, we want to understand what already exists. We organize the financial picture, identify important facts, understand your priorities, and look for areas that may deserve attention.
From there, we can begin asking better questions.
What is working? What is missing? What is unnecessarily complicated? Where is there concentration? Where is liquidity needed? What risks matter? What needs to generate income? What should remain invested for growth? What tax considerations may affect the decision? Which issues deserve attention now, and which can wait?
Our work may involve wealth management, investment strategy, retirement planning and income, liquidity, protection, business-owner planning, tax-aware strategies, estate and legacy coordination, and collaboration with other professionals.
But the objective is not to address everything simply because it exists.
Not Everything Important Is Urgent. Not Everything Urgent Is Most Important.™
The objective is to establish priorities and make thoughtful decisions in the right order.
INDEPENDENCE & FIDUCIARY COMMITMENT
Independent. Fiduciary. Aligned With You.
Ametrine Wealth Strategies is an independent fiduciary firm.
We are not tied to proprietary investment products or a single investment platform. That gives us the flexibility to evaluate strategies, investments, managers, technology, and other resources based on the client’s circumstances and objectives.
When appropriate, we may work with respected third-party and institutional money managers and coordinate with CPAs, attorneys, insurance professionals, and other specialists.
We believe the client should be at the center of that professional relationship.
The CPA should not operate in one world, the attorney in another, and the financial advisor in another while the client is left trying to figure out how everything connects.
We believe professionals should work in harmony around the client’s interests whenever possible.
Working in Harmony™
Our role is not to replace every professional in your financial life. It is to help make sure the different pieces — and the people responsible for them — are working toward the same picture.
Technology & Collaboration
Technology should make financial planning easier to understand — not give you more things to log into.
At Ametrine Wealth Strategies, technology is designed to support the personal relationship, not replace it.
We use Envestnet | MoneyGuide and other financial-planning and portfolio technology to help organize financial information, develop a clearer financial picture, assess risk, model different scenarios, evaluate retirement income and cash flow, and better understand how changes in one area may affect another.
For current clients, that provides an organized way to stay connected to their financial picture and planning. For prospective clients, it provides an opportunity to see what greater financial organization and visibility can look like.
The technology matters.
But technology is the tool. The client is the reason for using it.
Let’s Start a Conversation
You do not need to arrive with a perfectly organized financial life or know exactly which service you need.
Sometimes the best place to begin is simply with the question already on your mind.
Maybe retirement is getting closer. Maybe your business has become your largest financial asset. Maybe your tax situation has changed. Maybe you are concerned about income, liquidity, risk, or protecting what you have built. Or maybe you simply want another perspective before making an important decision.
Start With the Question.™
There is no obligation to move forward.
